How to Assign and Purchase the Book

As authors we have no control over the price of our books.  But with that said, there is very good news regarding the 5th edition:   Pearson has reduced the cost of access to below $100.   As we explain below, students can purchase the ebook with MyLab Finance for $95.99.  With that package, students can also purchase a loose-leaf print upgrade for only $24.99.  Finally, students interested in the traditional print book can rent it for $74.99, and the ebook alone (without MyLab) is just $59.99.

With MyLab|Finance (Recommended)

  • Both in terms of value and the student learning experience, the best option is to purchase the textbook with MyLab Finance (formerly MyFinanceLab or MFL).  Even if you do not plan to use MyLab in your classroom, your students can benefit from the online practice exercises, tools, videos, spreadsheets, and other pedagogical enhancements.
  • Includes:
    • Interactive ebook with embedded animations and videos
    • Practice problems, tools, and additional videos
    • Integrated homework system and Excel grader
  • Purchase options:
    • MyLab Finance with ebook can be purchased for immediate access on the Pearson website for $95.99.
    • Students wanting the convenience of a loose-leaf print version can purchase it within MyLab Finance as an in-app upgrade for $24.99.

Standalone (textbook only)

  • The following options are for the textbook only, without links to MyLab Finance, practice problems and tools, or online homework.
  • Print Format
    • The print book is no longer available for outright purchase. Students can rent it from the Pearson website (or Chegg) for $74.99.
    • The standard rental is for one semester. Students may keep the book permanently for an additional $94.99. (Thus, you can buy and own the book for a total price of $170, roughly half the price of the previous edition.)

  • Pearson Ebook
    • Pearson has created an interactive ebook format that includes video solutions to examples, author video explanations, and the ability of the instructor to assign and track readings, etc. (It does not include the ability to assign and autograde homework.)
    • This option can be purchased from the Pearson website for $59.99, and includes the option for students to purchase a loose-leaf print upgrade.
